redsn0w 0.9.9b7 bringt Geschwindigkeitsvorteile beim Jailbreak
Das iPhone Dev-Team bringt mit redsn0w 0.9.9b7 wieder einmal ein kleines Update für das Jailbreak-Tool.
Nun ist der iOS 5 Jailbreak 60 % schneller (80 Sekunden statt 210), da die Applikationen nicht mehr durch redsn0w, sondern durch Cydia ge”stasht” werden.
Man sollte sich aber gut überlegen, ob redsn0w nicht lieber doch diesen Schritt übernehmen sollte, da Cydia bedeutend langsamer im “stashen” ist. Nur der Jailbreak allein wäre dadurch schneller.
Im Blog des iPhone Dev-Teams liest man dazu folgendes:
Update #15: After some feedback on reddit, we’ve decided to make the initial jailbreak as quick as possible by no longer “stashing” the applications by default during the redsn0w run. This reduces the time to actually perform the jailbreak from 210 seconds to 80 seconds (60 percent!). However, you make up for much of that the first time you launch Cydia, which will then want to stash the applications. You can choose whether you want redsn0w or Cydia to stash in the Preferences pane.
Um die Einstellung “Move Applications” redsn0w zuzuweisen, geht man auf Extras, Preferences und hakt Move Applications an. Diese Option ist standardmäßig NICHT angehakt.
Leider gibt es immer noch nicht das “Custom IPSW” – Feature für die Unlocker (ultrasn0w, Gevey SIM) unter Windows. Diese müssen weiterhin auf sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 zurückgreifen.
