Enthält das iPhone 5 schon wieder eine kleinere SIM (nanoSIM)?
Das iPhone bekam schon mit der microSIM eine Extrawurst bei allen internationalen Providern, denn für die normalgroße SIM – Karte ist kein Platz, wenn man seine Geräte immer dünner und funktioneller gestalten will.
Die Größe der microSIM war schon winzig im Vergleich zur normalen SIM – Karte und nun soll sie in kommenden iPhone-Modellen noch kleiner werden.
Hat man also seine große SIM – Karte bis jetzt gestanzt oder selbst zusammengeschnippelt, kann man sie nun noch kleiner werden lassen, sodass wahrscheinlich nur noch der Chip ohne Plastik drumherum übrig bleibt.
So stellt sich jedenfalls Apple die Sache vor, denn man plante sogar schon iPhones gänzlich ohne SIM – Karte. Der Hauptgrund ist der Platzverbrauch, welchen man für andere Funktionen bzw. Module nutzen könnte.

Stephane Richard, CEO von Orange (französische Mobilfunk-Sparte der “Telecom”), hat in einem Interview mit AllThingsD über die SIM-Karten – Pläne von Apple für zukünftige iPhones gesprochen:
As you probably know, Apple has been working for years on reducing the size of SIM cards because they need space in the phone. They even thought about a device without any SIM card, that is what is known as the e-SIM project.
All of us told them it was a bad idea because the SIM card is a critical piece of the security and authentication process. It would be very difficult for a telco or carrier to manage the customer relationship. I think that they understood this point. We had a very constructive exchange and dialogue with them.
We are going to work with them in order to standardize a new format of SIM which takes into accout our needs with security and authentication and also is compatible with their wishes in terms of size.
I understood that the next iPhone would be smaller and thinner and they are definitely seeking some space.
Wie aus dem Zitat herauszulesen ist, hat sich Apple mit den Mobilfunkanbietern geeinigt, eine kleinere SIM – Karte verwenden zu dürfen. Ein iPhone gänzlich ohne SIM – Karte ist nicht erlaubt und die Größe der zukünftigen SIM ist auch noch unklar. Eventuell wird sie ja nanoSIM heißen..
Ob das iPhone 5 bereits solch eine verkleinerte SIM – Karte haben wird, ist ebenfalls unklar.
